Mentorships

OASIS acts as a mentor home for students from Harrisonburg and Rockingham Counties. We have an endorsed, for-credit mentorship program available for James Madison University (JMU) students majoring in art and art education. Students under assignment from their professors at JMU participate in the program as directed by gallery staff. For information on applying for a mentorship at the gallery contact your art professor at JMU.

As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, Shenandoah Council of the Arts relies on community support and on public and private grants to continue OASIS and its programs promoting the arts.   Both the Arts Council of the Valley and the Virginia Commission for the Arts provide funding through grants for artists and arts programs.
